Father’s Day Popsicle Stick Hanging Sign

Creating a father’s day craft with your kids is a fun project. Here’s a popsicle stick hanging sign that we created for father’s day. This is quite a simple craft to make using popsicle sticks and some wooden or foam letters. It does not take more than 15 minutes.

This DIY activity is a great way for your kids to show their love for dad. It’s a beautiful handmade token that any dad would love to have.

It’s perfect to hang on an office desk, on a wall, or in a locker.

Creating crafts with kids is not only fun but it’s also a great time for them to learn something.

It helps your children develop their fine motor skills, creativity and patience.

Making handmade crafts for a special person is also a way for kids to show their gratitude through their creativity.

Here is the list of supplies you need to make this beautiful hanging sign craft for dad.

  • Popsicle sticks (6 of them will be enough)
  • Wooden letters or foam letters (width around 3 cm)
  • Cotton cord to hang the sign
  • Paint and brush (optional)
  • Craft glue/ hot glue

Making the Hanging Sign Craft For Dad

First of all, we need to attach four popsicle sticks together (or as many as you need to fit the letters)

We used coloured popsicle sticks, but you can use the regular ones or you can even take regular ones and colour them as you like.

Kids love colouring them, it’s a great way for them to be involved. Especially if they are toddlers. Preschoolers or kindergarteners can do this craft by themselves easily with minimal supervision.

Glueing the pop sticks one by one is not easy. You can use two sticks horizontally to attach the pop sticks. You can use either craft glue or hot glue.

One pop stick to make a cross and another half of the sticks at the bottom so that everything fits nicely.

Leave them aside for a few minutes to dry.

While it’s drying you can paint the wooden letters (wooden letters perfectly go along with the popsicle sticks, however, using foam letters is also fine).

You can also use the wooden letters without painting. We decided to paint it to get more aesthetic look.

We used acrylic paint. Acrylic paint makes the wooden signs really elegant. Leave them to dry as well.

Once the popsicle sticks and the letters are dry enough, the next step is to glue the letters onto the popsicle sticks.

That’s pretty much it. Leave it to dry as well.

Then you can attach a cotton cord to the sides of the horizontal pop stick.

We enjoyed making it. Let us know whether you like this craft.
