List of great end of year gift ideas for teachers included.
End of another year and it’s that time of the year where families with young kids start planning for the end of year gifts for teachers and educators.
This whole year, your child grew up, got better at, was appreciated, was included and corrected in the classroom and now it’s our turn to say thank you to them.
Giving gifts to teachers for their service may not be the most popular idea these days given the economy of many countries is in a shambles.
But I still choose to splurge a bit in appreciation of teachers for following reasons. Being a mom and a former teacher I think I should add my two cents on this.
Why I choose to give end of year gifts for teachers and educators?
First of all, teaching is one of the most important jobs though it doesn’t seem to get due credit in most parts of the world. So, as parents it’s vital that we keep encouraging and appreciating them for the service they give us.
Secondly, as a mom who juggles two kids at home, I know how crazy it can be at times. Imagine managing 20 or more kids day to day basis for a year! My kid’s teachers surely deserve a lot. haha
The last reason, though it’s the reason closest to heart is it’s such an amazing feeling when my kids looks forward to her kinder day and love, love, love, her teachers so much. (She even says “I miss my teacher” during holidays) Children know when they feel loved and I am forever thankful for her teachers for that.

Tips to remember when giving gifts for teachers
- You don’t HAVE to spend money to say thank you to a teacher. A handmade card and a flower from your garden can literally make their day.
- If you are happy to spend money on a gift, always keep in mind that in some States, teachers have to declare gifts worth more than $50.
- Most teachers get a ton of mugs, chocolates and tote bags.
- Personalised gifts is such a sweet idea but sometimes teachers end up getting a lot of same stuff. But they cannot regift them if they are personalised. And teachers do not like waste!
- If there is more than one teacher or educator in your child’s classroom, try to give similar gifts or gifts of similar value. For an example you may gift a necklace to the class teacher and a chocolate each for teacher aides or educators. But they may be the ones who spend most of the time with your child and you may end up making them feel undervalued.
- Gifts that take a lot of space may not be the best idea for a teacher. Ex: Huge flower vase or photo frame.
Hope you pick something wonderful for the teachers to make them feel valued and appreciated.
Let me know what you gave your kids’ teachers this year. š
