Kids’ bedtime can be a testing time for many parents. Especially when they are tired after a long day full of activities.
To make matters worse, we also often find ourselves exhausted after coping with everyday stuff. If you are at your wits end at this time, read this article to find out how to pick the best bedtime stories for kids. You can even download the books written by me.
How To Find The Best Bedtime Stories To Read
First of all, you do not read just any book before bedtime. There are certain types of books that I would avoid right before putting my kids to sleep.
- Books that are exciting and thrilling
- Books that overly stimulate children with a lot of content
- Books that make them laugh their heads off
- Books about scary monsters, ghosts or anything that scares my children
Then, what do I read them?
- Simple books with heartwarming stories.
- Stories with repetitive words
- Stories that can be read rhythmically using softer voice. (no outside voice or yelling)
- A simple happy ending that is not too complicated. Ex: a big hug
How do such bedtime stories help your child?
- These stories are calming and relaxing.
- They do not overly stimulate their senses.
- The soft, rhythmic voice and repetition help them wind up and go to sleep easily.
